The cluster shared file system architecture reconstructed from H3C CAS V7.0 can achieve a 75% reduction in metadata data volume and storage space usage. Optimize the metadata indexing path and algorithm, reducing data indexing latency by 50%. Compared to setting zero for thick disk configurations, its advantages mainly lie in two points:

  • Simplified provisioning supports disk capacity over partitioning. The lean mode adopts a dynamic allocation of disk space, only allocating the storage space required for actual data when needed, and allocating as much as needed to save valuable storage space. However, the feature of setting zero for thick provisioning does not support this feature.
  • Significantly save delivery time. Taking 1T capacity as an example, the lean provisioning mode can create virtual machines in seconds, while the thick provisioning zeroing mode can create virtual machines in minutes, effectively improving the efficiency of virtual machine creation and providing guarantees for rapid business development.
